PUBLIC ART | ELEVATING THE EVERYDAY
Public artworks designed for shared space and collective experience
Jason Hoelscher Studio produces site-specific public art integrated with architecture, translating color, pattern, and structural poetics into durable, fabrication-ready works engineered for everyday use. Among our project highlights are a $100,000 architectural terrazzo suite for Greenville–Spartanburg International Airport, nominated for the 2025 National Terrazzo and Mosaic Association Honor Award and an Associated Builders and Contractors Excellence in Construction Award, and a landmark MIT and Harvard curatorial commission for the HUBweek Art and Technology Festival at Boston City Hall Plaza. Developed in close coordination with design teams, stakeholders, and fabricators, these works demonstrate the studio's ability to deliver complex, highly visible projects on time and on budget.
This track record is reinforced by our current momentum, with the studio recently named a finalist for over $800,000 in major public art commissions serving diverse communities across Rhode Island, Michigan, Toronto, Colorado, Utah, Nevada, and Washington.

JASON HOELSCHER STUDIO: FROM CONCEPT TO CRANE LIFT
|
Jason Hoelscher Studio LLC delivers feasibility-ready, site-specific public artworks designed around how people arrive, move through, pause within, and remember a place, integrating cleanly with architectural timelines, construction schedules, and real-world site constraints. With more than 200 art installations completed over the past decade and over $800,000 in recent and current finalist momentum, we offer a low-risk, high-impact delivery process that translates bold visual identity into durable, buildable, experience-driven outcomes for everyday public life.
1. Discovery & Stakeholder Engagement: Through site research, community engagement, and stakeholder dialogue, guided by an AEIOU framework focused on Activities, Environments, Interactions, Objects, and Users, we translate lived patterns of movement, use, and gathering into clear, legible visual systems grounded in place, culture, and community experience. |
2. Feasibility-Ready Design: We develop high-fidelity renderings and submittal-level drawings that address wind load, UV stability, slip resistance, safety, and code requirements from the outset, ensuring designs remain welcoming, accessible, and operationally sound in daily use.
3. Material Rigor & Engineering: By pairing durable, code-aware materials with early engineering coordination and fabrication planning, we collaborate closely with engineers and specialist fabricators to support long-term performance, maintenance efficiency, and public safety.
4. Logistical Oversight: We speak the language of the construction site and public works environments, coordinating shop drawings, mockups, material samples, crane lifts, forklifts, sequencing, and safety protocols to ensure a seamless, low-risk interface with project teams.
5. Installation & Stewardship: We provide end-to-end project management through final installation, including clear maintenance documentation and lifecycle considerations, ensuring each artwork will support orientation, belonging, and repeat engagement as a lasting civic landmark for decades to come.
