Jason Hoelscher Studio, led by artist, tenured professor, and gallery director Jason Hoelscher (MFA, PhD), merges aesthetic insight with deep site-specific research to create conceptually rich yet crowd-pleasing artworks that transform high-traffic environments into places of connection. Moving fluidly from close observation to built installation, I design murals, terrazzo, tile, shade structures, sculptural forms, and other modes of aesthetic infrastructure that translate a location’s memory and everyday rhythms into enduring landmarks that unfold through repeated encounters.
Current commissions include an interdisciplinary suite of terrazzo and GFRC artworks for Reno-Tahoe International Airport, and architecturally integrated murals, terrazzo, and wallworks for Snow College in Utah. These build on Gateway Currents, a 2025 three-medallion terrazzo commission for Greenville-Spartanburg International Airport, nominated for both the 2026 National Terrazzo & Mosaic Association Honor Award and an Associated Builders & Contractors Excellence in Construction Award, and Pollinate, a curatorial project for the MIT/Harvard HUBweek Art & Technology Festival that drew 50,000+ visitors and was named "one of the most Instagrammable spots in Boston" the week it debuted. Bridging conceptual rigor with contractor fluency, the studio activates public spaces with durable, code-aware installations where ideas unfold into form and collective experience comes alive.

A licensed LLC with $4,000,000 of insurance coverage (COI available upon request), Jason Hoelscher Studio develops site-specific public artworks shaped by the ways people arrive, move through, gather within, and remember a place. With 30 years of national and international art experience and over 200 art installations completed to date, the studio offers a steady, collaborative process that carries ideas from initial concept through fabrication and final installation. Each project is designed to integrate seamlessly with architecture, construction timelines, and the lived rhythms of public space, balancing creative ambition with disciplined execution.
1. Discovery & Engagement: Each project begins with close observation of how a site is used and experienced. Guided by an AEIOU framework focused on Activities, Environments, Interactions, Objects, and Users, I develop an actionable grid of site behavior, observed conditions, design response, and artistic outcome that turns site research into clear, place-responsive visual systems and dynamic artworks. |

2. Design Development: Concepts evolve through detailed renderings and technical drawings that address safety, accessibility, durability, and code requirements from the outset.
3. Materials & Engineering: I pair durable, code-aware materials with early engineering coordination and fabrication planning to support long-term performance and structural integrity.
4. Coordination & Installation: With well-honed collaboration skills, I work closely with fabricators, contractors, and project teams to coordinate mockups, drawings, logistics, and installation sequencing to ensure a smooth transition from shop to site.
5. Stewardship & Longevity: The studio provides lifecycle planning and maintenance guidance so each artwork continues to support orientation, connection, and everyday experience for years to come.
